Scoring lots of points and winning two important games, the Lady Badgers secured two big wins and climbed a bit up the District 10C standings along the way.
On Friday, the Lady Badgers took on the Augusta Elks for some great basketball action! The Lady Badgers started out strong and played strong throughout the entire game. They rolled into the end of the first quarter with a leading score of 20-8. As the Badgers continued to be quick on their feet and take advantage of their opportunities with a lead of 35-20 at halftime.
After halftime, the game continued and the Badgers stayed strong. A huge 23-6 third quarter opened up a 32-point lead for Cascade as the players from the bench came in to relieve the starters. At the end of the third quarter, the Badgers had more than doubled the difference between their score and the opponent’s score with a score of 58-26.
The Lady Badgers sprinted into the fourth quarter and held their outstanding lead with a final score of 70-38.
Senior guard Georgia Mortag scored a career-high 25 points for Cascade, and junior Shelbie Jackson added 18.
The Lady Badgers played the very next day against the Sunburst Refiners and took home another amazing win!
Just like the previous game, the Badgers worked hard to lead throughout the entire game. The first quarter quickly cruized away and ended with a leading score of 10-4. The Badgers continued to work hard on defense and offense which led to a leading score of 24-9 at the end of the second quarter. The ball rolled into the third quarter which ended as quickly as it started with a winning score of 37-15. The game ended with a final score of 46-21 and they Lady Badgers hit the road for the long ride home.
Jackson was the only Lady Badger in double figures with 21 points.
The victories move Cascade to 6-4 overall and 4-4 in District 10C play.
Cascade will look to avenge an early-season loss as they travel to Dutton-Brady on Thursday night, and they will hit the road again on Friday for a matchup with the Valier Panthers. Go, Badgers!
