The John Deere Ag Expo (JDAE) took place November 15-17 at Montana State University in Bozeman. During this event, about 1600 students competed in events including livestock judging, food science, ag sales, ag communication, and many more.

In the past, the John Deere Ag Expo was known as the Winter Fair and MSU Ag Days. However, not many things have changed in the John Deere Ag Expo over the years. For the most part, the John Deere Ag Expo has not changed.

There are a lot of fun things to do at the John Deere Ag Expo, but for Mr. Tilleman, his favorite thing is “watching kids compete in different events before they compete at state level.”

The students that participated in this year’s John Deere Ag Expo did very well. Gracie Orem placed third individually in Junior livestock, Ryan Bogden placed first individually in Senior Ag Communications, and the Senior Ag communications team placed second with a team consisting of Bogden, Riley Bricker, Elise Crago, and Kaitlyn Wade. Senior Ag Issues also placed first with a team consisting of Jessy Barger, Taylor Brown, Shaylyn Evans, Caybree Ludvigson, Kaitlynn Lummer, Mattison McKamey, and Eli Schreher. Two other teams, Junior Ag Issues (Emilee Crago, Preston Hastings, Gracie Orem, Cassidy Sewak, and Justin Smith) and Junior Marketing Plan (Ava McKamey, Cassidy Sewak, and Katie Skasik) both placed first in their activities.

The students who participated this year did an outstanding job, but this is not a new thing for Cascade. In fact, in the first year that the John Deere Ag Expo was held, Cascade won eight out of the 16 plaques.
