On Friday, September 7, the Cascade Badgers junior high football team defeated the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks by the score of 46-22.

Leading the charge was eighth-grade quarterback James Lewis who ran for three touchdowns, threw for two others, and finished the Cascade scoring with an interception return for a touchdown.

In the first quarter, Lewis scored a total of three touchdowns as the Badgers built an 18-0 lead.  Eighth-grade halfback Connor Sawyer scored a 40-yard touchdown to gain an even better lead to 24-0. To top off Sawyer’s touchdown, Lewis tagged on a two-point conversion for a 26-0 lead.  CJI scored on a long pass play to cut the lead to 26-8, but Sawyer and Lewis scored another TD-conversion combination for a 34-8 lead heading into halftime.

In the third quarter, eighth-grade fullback Brodie Ober scored a 50-yard touchdown to bring the score up to 40-8.  Lewis then intercepted a CJI pass and ran all the way to the house for Cascade’s final touchdown of the game.

The final quarter did not have much action from the Badger side and CJI brought there score up to 46-22 to end the final quarter with an end score of 46-22.
