The Cascade Lady Badgers Junior High volleyball team is just starting out its 2018-2019 season and has already accomplished many things. With two matches down, the Lady Badgers A-Team has already beaten the Vaughn Wildcats and the Belt Huskies. The B Team is right behind, beating Vaughn and losing a close match to Belt.

On August 28, 2018, the ladies traveled to Belt with an intention to beat their antagonists, the Huskies. The B Team played impressively even though they lost the first match with a score of 18-25.  Cascade continued to play hard and keep bright spirits.  This resulted in a 25-21 win for the Lady Badgers in the second game.  The third game resulted in a heartbreaking 14-16 loss for Cascade.

The Lady Badgers may have lost, but they never fell far behind.

When asked why the B team lost, Hattie Orem, the B team captain, said, “I don’t think we got enough serves over.”

Even though the B team lost their match, the A team went in with strong serves and a desire to beat the Huskies. The A team took their first match with a win of 25-18. During the second match, the team finished the game with a score of 25-21. The A team didn’t let themselves down and were persistent in their serves and passes. This led to a big victory over the Huskies.

Kodiann Lynn, the team captain of the Belt game, said, “The team won the game because they had a strong defense and got the ball to their setter.”

“I think we did a great job passing and keeping the ball in play,” said head coach Siobhan Hatthorn.  “I am happy with the outcome of the games.”

The ladies next head to Dutton for a battle against the Dutton-Brady Diamondbacks and head to Great Falls on Saturday morning to face Great Falls Central Catholic.

Good luck, Lady Badgers!
