Eight Cascade BPA students recently attended the 2018 National Leadership Conference in Dallas.  The event was bittersweet, as the Cascade chapter and its members were honored with several awards, but it also marked the final National Conference attended by long-time Cascade BPA adviser Linda Cotton, who is retiring after 44 years in the classroom.

From May 8-13, senior Kelli Ober, juniors Kendra Anderson and Megan Smith, sophomores Riley Bricker, Ryan Bogden, Taylor Brown, and Ashley Wilson, along with lone freshman Kaden Shelton, accompanied their steadfast adviser to Dallas, where they attended meetings, took part in competitions, and did some sightseeing around the historic city.

Bogden and Shelton competed in computer animation, Ober, Anderson, Bricker, and Brown took part in the parliamentary procedure competition, Wilson took on entrepreneurship, and Ober gave her best shot in human resources management.  Though none of the teams or individuals placed at the national level, each had to qualify in an extremely competitive state conference in March.

While they weren’t busy with competitions, Cotton and crew took in the Fort Wayne Stockyards, AT&T Dallas Stadium, the Sixth Floor Kennedy Museum, the Holocaust Museum, and Six Flags Theme Park.

Below is a list of national awards garnered by Cascade BPA students:

Cascade BPA Chapter: Outstanding Achievement Award – Safety Awareness for Red Ribbon Week
