The Cascade Badgers have been known to put runs on teams when they need to most and put the opponent away for good, and Friday night in Simms was a great example.

Cascade was losing to the Tigers in the third quarter when Preston Hagan took the team on his shoulders, nailing five threes and scoring 18 of his game-high 25 points in the final two quarters of play. This impressive showing led Cascade to a 60-44 win over the Tigers.

The Badgers started off the game with Ryan Bogden shooting two free throws in the first 10 seconds after a quick foul by Simms. The rest of the quarter would be back and forth action between both teams but would end with the Badgers up 12-8 over Simms.

In the second quarter, Simms made a push and brought themselves to an even 20-20 tie with the Badgers at the half. The Badgers gave up a few easy fastbreak points off of turnovers at the very end of the quarter to let Simms catch up.

The Badgers came out of the locker room a little unprepared and were lazy with the ball in the first few minutes of the third quarter, and let Simms get up 25-20, but the Badgers were determined not to repeat the team’s early-season loss to the Tigers. With time to make a comeback running low and momentum swaying to Simms, the Badgers buckled down and put on a show to remember.

In the final two quarters alone, Hagan drilled five threes and fueled the rest of the team. This momentum continued to build, and the Badgers just couldn’t miss. Cascade would end the half having outscored the Tigers by 17 points for the 60-44 win.

Bogden added 17 points to the Badgers’ score, and senior Ty Tweten grabbed an impressive 22 rebounds.

The previous game was a disappointing loss to the Power Pirates at home. In the first matchup between Power, the Badgers won the game on a last-second shot by Preston Hagan; this game, however, would be much less exciting and end in a 34-24 victory for the Power Pirates.

The game started very slowly and stayed that way. Only once would a team score more than 10 points in a quarter. At the end of the first quarter, Power was up 6-4.

Both teams picked it up a little bit in the second period with a better 9-9 quarter which would end with Power in the lead 15-13.

In the second half, the Badgers would score 11 points altogether, and Power would score 19.

Hagan led the team with 9 points and Kolton Lynn added 6.

The Badgers will head to Augusta this Friday and play Sunburst on Saturday for Senior Night.  Seniors Preston Hagan, Wesley Hagan, Kolton Lynn, and Ty Tweten will be playing their final home game for the Badgers.
